The way you unlock your Apple iPhone X has been of great importance to the Apple team. The very first iPhone had a slider; you had to slide to unlock your device. The next iPhone came with a new technology which was called the touch ID. Touch ID was a major break-through made by Apple in the security of phones.
Face ID works with the help of true depth camera system. This comprises of –
- Infrared Camera
- Flood Illuminator
- Front Camera
- Dot Projector
- Proximity Sensor
- Ambient Light Sensor
Whenever you look at your iPhone it detects your face using the flood illuminator. iPhone X is capable of doing this in dark as well. The IR camera takes an IR image, the dot projectors read your face by projecting approximately more than 30000 dots. iPhone X takes the matrix from the dot projector and the IR image to create a mathematical model of your face. This mathematical model is compared with the mathematical model which is already saved on your iPhone (while setting it up the iPhone this mathematical model is captured by the phone). If both the mathematical models match phone gets unlocked.
Face ID gives you instructions on how you need to move your face while setting it up. iPhone X learns your face so well that even if you change your hairstyle or put on glasses, it still recognizes you without any issues. iPhone X also recognizes that whether you are looking at your phone or not. If you hold your phone in front of your face and don’t look at it, it would stay locked.
