Sony Xperia Z5 getting updated to Android Marshmallow

Sony had plans to update only a few of its phones to the latest Android Marshmallow OS. Recently, it updated the Xperia C4, C5 Ultra phones to the Marshmallow software. These phones were never expected to receive the software update but then enjoyed the privilege of receiving it. The company is working hard to update its entire Xperia Z5 series to the Android 6.0 and now they have finally released it.

As per the latest reports, Sony’s Xperia Z5 handset is receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update Over-the-Air (OTA). The reports reveal that the Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium handsets will soon receive the update, is have not yet already received it over-ther-air.

It is reported that the first country to receive this update is Turkey, but it’s expected to come to some more markets anytime. Yesterday, the Japanese giant confirmed that Sony Xperia M4 Aqua will also get the Marshmallow update. Also, some concept Marshmallow builds are available for the series Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.

Sony Xperia C4 gets Android 5.1 Update

We know that Sony’s Xperia C4 was supposed to jump straight to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update but the recent reports reveal that the phone is now updated to Android 5.1 software. Sony confirmed in October last year that it will not bring the Android 5.1 update to six of its devices. Instead, these smartphones were supposed to jump directly to the latest Android Marshmallow.

The Xperia C4 of the Japanese giant was also on the list, so we were expecting to receive the Android 6.0 update for this handset soon. But now the reports reveal that this handset is receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

There is an update available for the C4 device from Sony along with the Xperia C4 Dual but it is not the latest Android version. Instead, the company has now rolled out the Android 5.1 Lollipop which though is a version which should not have been received by both these handsets. Anyways, there is a new update for the phone, even if it’s not the expected Android Marshmallow but it’s an upgrade from the older version atleast.

Currently, the roll out is underway for the remaining five phones from the six that were mentioned in the list of Sony. As per report, the E5343 is currently being excluded from the list. Of course, the update can be downloaded as an over-the-air version in the next few days. After you install this new software, you will be on the build number 27.2.A.0.155 if you are using the Xperia C4 device, and the build number for C4 Dual is 27.2.B.0.155.
